Year 11 Level 1 /2 Qualifications

On Thursday 20th August over 800 Year 11 leavers from the Island’s five Secondary schools will receive all their Level 1 and Level 2 qualification results through their schools. Grades will be awarded to students for Cambridge IGCSEs, WJEC GCSEs, BTEC Level 1 and 2 awards, SQA Nationals in practical subjects, SQA National Progression Awards and SQA Skills for Work qualifications as part of a broad balanced curriculum offer.

SQA qualification results were available on the 4th August via a my SQA text service and Cambridge IGCSE Results will be available online to pupils via individual logins on 11th August. These outcomes will give a partial picture of attainment for most students and full structured pupil support will be in place in schools as usual on 20th when all other qualification results are available.

Schools have already contacted Key Stage 4 leavers about results days but further information can be found on school websites at the links below and on social media pages.

Senior staff will be available in IOM schools on Thursday the 20th of August to provide students with their results (from 8am or 9am depending on the school) and support next steps.

What are my options for further education?

At the end of Year 11 students can undertake further education at either a school sixth form or UCM. There is guidance on the prior attainment required to undertake different levels of study as well as contact details for the schools and UCM.

Level 3 Study at School Sixth Forms and UCM

(A Levels/BTEC Level 3 and other Level 3 qualifications)

Level 2 Study at UCM

(IGCSEs, GCSEs, BTEC Level 2 and other level 2 qualifications)

Level 1 Study at UCM

What support is available for students picking up Level1/2 results during August?

Structured support with next steps is available through schools on Thursday the 20th August. UCM is providing opportunities to talk through options at UCM every Thursday throughout the Summer. On every Thursday there will be UCM staff from each programme area available to discuss places still available on courses (Level 1, 2 or 3)at UCM starting in the Autumn Term 2020. UCM will be open every weekday from 20th August.

For Autumn 2020, UCM has guaranteed a place on a further education course for students at an appropriate level based on their prior attainment and skills.
